Hosted by the Humphrey School of Public Affairs
Created and Sponsored by the Workable World Trust
U of M distinguished international emeritus professor Joseph E. Schwartzberg recently wrote a book entitled “Transforming the United Nations System: Designs for a Workable World” (http://www.brookings.edu/research/books/2013/transforming-the-united-nations). Last December he took a large percentage of his life savings to create The Workable World Trust, with the goal of “promoting a better world through transforming the United Nations and other institutions of global governance.”
One of the first important activities of the Trust is sponsoring the “Creating a Workable World” conference, being held October 9-10 at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs. The conference features a stellar international group of presenters chosen because of their creative vision and practical, innovative positions and initiatives in respect to the future of humanity. I think it’s fair to say that no other conference in recent decades has assembled a comparable group of thinker-activists.
